Marketing trends come and go. In 2016, it was Facebook Live. When such movements do come around, we try to understand how we can subvert them or push them as far as they’ll go to give our clients maximum impact.
That’s how our staggeringly successful Three-Day Follow Cam campaign for French Mountains came about. On paper, sending Ed Leigh from BBC’s Ski Sunday out to snowboard around each three ski resorts while being followed by a filmer holding an iPhone streaming to Facebook Live wasn’t exactly the easiest treatment for a simple ‘help us promote these resorts in the UK market’ brief.
And, as our pre-gig social ad campaign brought thousands of expectant viewers to their screens, popcorn at the ready, the stakes got even higher. After all, what if the signal failed?
In the end, it worked out beautifully, showcasing these top resorts to thousands of online viewers in a simple yet groundbreaking way — taking a hackneyed marketing convention to new heights of entertaining creativity.
