Championship Ski and Snowboard Project
How do you nurture and encourage emerging freestyle talent in a credible way? How do you provide talented young skiers and snowboarders with a platform to showcase their progression in an environment they'll feel comfortable with?
These are questions that Hamish McKnight, head snowboard coach of the GB Park and Pipe team, has mulled over for year. Championship Ski and Snowboard, his solution, has revolutionised grassroots snowsports in the UK.
It is a simple idea: six snowboard and six ski teams from slopes across the UK go head to head in a league, with teams submitting videos of tricks from four of their team members for each round. After five rounds, the teams who come out top of the CSS leaderboard will claim a cash prize donated by the Snowboard Asylum, Ellis Brigham and Delancey to be spent on the development of freestyle at their slope. They will also have the kudos of being crowned “best scene in Great Britain”.
We've been involved since the beginning, producing and editing the highlight packages for each round which have been hosted on the Championship Ski and Snowboard website and picked up and supported by much of the scene's core media, as you might expect. Click the link to find out more.
